Character Towns:  Positioning small cities and towns for the new economy

Orlando LEED-certified planner and author Bill Kercher shares his observations on what makes a “character town” – a small city or town with friendly and inviting neighborhoods and an engaging business community both of which support a sociable and civil society; a society that is proud of its home town, protective of its heritage and committed to its well-being.  Using Florida communities as examples, Kercher discusses essential attributes of character towns and provide action strategies to transform Florida’s cities into livable and economically vibrant communities of the 21st century.
