1997 Growth Management Awards

Once again it is time to recognize those individuals and communities that exemplify stellar planning and growth management in Florida. 1000 Friends of Florida will present the awards at its annual reception in Tallahassee on March 25, 1997. The categories are:

Community Steward Awards--for individuals who are helping lead their communities through the growth management process. These individuals may be Public Servants (those in government) or Hometown Heros (community activists).
Florida Successful Community Award--for a project or a community that shows extraordinary effort to create a special place to live.
Florida Greenways Award--for a community or project that is helping to make the state’s system of greenways a reality.
Bill Sadowski Award--for a public servant (on the state or regional level) whose work exemplifies the high level of commitment to growth management and the philosophy of negotiation for which the former DCA secretary was known.
Al Burt Award--for a journalist who does an outstanding job of keeping the issues affecting Florida's future in the public eye.
Carl Feiss Award (named for 1000 Friends' board member emeritus)--for a young planner (in school or just out of school) who serves as a model and exemplifies the dedication and forward thinking necessary to lead Florida into the 21st century.
