2009 Better Community Awards

1000 Friends of Florida is proud to announce the recipients of the 2009 Better Community Awards. 1000 Friends is presenting three Community Steward Awards, to the Lee County Board of County Commissioners for its work to protect the Density Reduction/Groundwater Protection Area, the Smart Growth Coalition of North Central Florida for smart growth advocacy and springs protection in the Marion County area, and Chad Taylor for his community leadership regarding springs protection and visioning in Jackson County. 1000 Friends is presenting its Better Community Award to Kimco Properties for its SoDo redevelopment project in downtown Orlando.
